WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

I have to dig myself out of snow, so no time for EOY lists but definitely have my favs…

Posted about 1 year ago

Born, raised and currently live in Seattle, WA. We are famous for rain and not much else. Oh wait, that was the 80's. This is now.

2008 is coming to an end and it's a fun one around these parts of the northwest. We are covered in snow and the city has all but shut down. No one has showed up for work in days. Snowboarders and sledders are everywhere and I have met neighbors I never knew existed. People are couped up and nutty. Like there is not much to do inside but watch copious amounts of porn and Christmas flicks.

Buses of underprivileged kids dangling over I-5, the store has no food.... and no one can go shopping cause the malls are impossible to get to. The folks of Seattle cannot drive in snow - we have 28 snowplows and that covers nowhere near anything here. Therefore, I cannot drive in snow. I am stuck at home and working on a project that is hard to get into. The cats are pissed that can't go outside. The dog loves the snow but got hit by a van this morning on our walk for coffee. He is fine but seriously that van wanted to kill him on purpose. My fault if anything happened.

Anyway, I have had too much time to watch the TV in this holed up situation, and saw a commercial for the PS3 and was surprised that I recognized the music that was totally making me watch the commercial in the first place. It was XOXO Panda - Her Space Holiday himself singing in the background.

Now apparently they used an unreleased song called appropriately "Pass It On", that won't be coming out until next year's The Boys & The Girls EP. Whoever was responsible for that is super prepared. Don't get snow now.

Okay, here is the commercial if you pass your time that way and are curious…

And here is another track off of Her Space Holiday's 2008 release, XOXO, Panda And The New Kid Revival, called Sleepy Tigers

Oh I like you so very much so much in fact I gotta wake you up
It's not that I have words to speak
I just wanna see you looking at me
In a way, that states
In an hour when the sun comes up
We're gonna put on our shoes we're gonna shake the dust
Open the door with your brand new key
We won't be afraid of being sweet
to ourselves
Or anybody! anybody else!

Oh I miss you so very much so much in fact i gotta call you up
It's not that I have news to bring
I just wanna make your telephone ring
So it shows and you know

In a week when I fly back home
We're gonna jump in bed and be all alone
you'll make biscuits and I'll make tea
We'll curl up close and then fall asleep
To the sound… of no one else no else around

And if Ive learned anything at all
In this short life of mine (it's this)…
If you hear that joy has come to town
Track it down, take a picture and tape it to your eyes

Oh I love you so very much so much in fact I'm gonna switch it up
I'm gonna take this room that I built for fun
And burn down the walls in front of everyone
So they see, you and me

Dancing in our sleepy clothes
With two big smiles and a bowl of hope!
That we'll drink down like ginger tea
The heat will help us forget everything
That you and I, that you and I have seen

And if Ive learned anything at all
In this short life of mine (it's this)…
If you hear that joy has come to town
Track it down, take a picture and tape it to your eyes

This is one of my 2008 fav records, hands down! Gawd......
