Earth to the Dandy Warhols

The new Dandy Courtney's is superfabulous, totally couldn't stop playing it last night....really loud!I'm not usually a very big fan of this band, but this album is so beyond their usual, I'm just impressed enough to play it more and spread the word to my fellow moggers. Oh wait, aren't they huge in the UK? (I know, I will shut up now).Perhaps like me, you have not given the DW's the chance they deserve? If so, you should check this song out....

  1. Anna says I haven't gotten my claws on this yet. The reason behind this is that although I fancy their music, seeing them live 2-3 times with the lead singer being utterly unable to sing kinda kills my musical erection (pardon the French). But your enthusiasm in this case is contagious, so claws it is....in brandarius I trust! :)

  2. brandarius says Oh you are a sweet one, Anna. You have to check out the songs "Talk Radio" and "Welcome to the Third World" too. I don't know what the hell is going on with "The Legend of The Last of the Outlaw Truckers AKA the Ballad of Sherriff Shorty" but seriously, I'm not sure this is the same Dandy Warhols we all love to hate. Whoever this is, it's brilliant.

  3. Dale says Another in the long list of albums I need to spin, but the red button's got some good ear candy.

  4. zarpex says I didn't realize The Dandy Warhols were considered a bit "uncool"; I have a lot of their stuff on my iTunes. If they're uncool, so much the better. Coolness is for conformists; I champion the uncool. I've been wearing flares since I was ten years old. Time is on my side. The DW's weakness might be their lyrics, which can veer toward the cutesy, or the mockery of subjects too easily mocked. Still, ??Thirteen Tales from Urban Bohemia?? contains no fewer than eight tracks that meet or exceed zarpexian quality standards, an extraordinarily high percentage. "Horse Pills" and "Country Leaver" are particular standouts. It was a ghastly mistake to pick "Bohemian like You," a feeble novelty song and by far the weakest track on the album, as its single; if they're "uncool," I suspect that misstep might have played a big part. If you have the time, I humbly suggest you give the album another listen. Again; excellent spotting, brandarius.

  5. brandarius says Oh Zarpex, you always give the best comments. I think my fear of uncool comes from my Pacific Northwest roots. There are many schools of thought on the Dandy's here, and well sometimes its hard to not listen to the little whispers. I'm sure you know what I am saying. I agree that I need to listen to more of the Dandy's....Thirteen Tales has not been touched since I heard the pop treat "Bohemian like You" but then again, I am always for rediscovering lost gems. THanks for the heads up!
