(Grace Walks Out) I'm sure a part of how we all wound up here...

Posted about 1 year ago

is that we all know the feeling of that song that is about this moment in our life.

It is funny that I have carried this song around with me, pretty much everywhere I have gone for the bulk of the past decade, yet I would invariable hit the seek button whenever it would play.

I'm sure it says something about me that I never truly understood the meaning of grace until the term was used to describe me. It's not what you think, though. Yes, I am that self absorbed, but it was the way that it was used that made me realize just how powerful and important the term can be. Some people just bring grace to any room they enter, no matter how clumsy their footsteps. It is not arch, it is not a joke, it is a beauty that can hardly be understood, much less described.

It is a shame, but a shame I deserve, that I only begin to recognize grace as it leaves me. We learn from our mistakes, and that is a blessing, but sometimes our blessings stab our heart every time we our reminded of them. Thank God for them, anyway.

    Reason
    Is there any reason
Why my heart must now understand
We had the fire so many times
    Changes like the season
    Convinces me
That we've come to an end
    But your love was undescribable

Woo ooh, woo ooh, woo ooh, woo ooh
Woo ooh, woo ooh, woo ooh, woo ooh

And as I watch I see before my eyes
    The truth is my reality
    My emotions are high
And I'm at the risk of falling again
Right now everything's on the line

Being alone is not what I prefer
But I've got to face this feeling
    With grace
    I will step aside
    But if you're in need,
    Holler and I'll be round
    Holler, holler, holler
    Holler, holler, holler

    Please don't try
To make me less than I am
Let's not drag it out anymore
    With grace
    I will gladly remove myself
    With grace
    I'm all too willing
'Cause being alone is not what I prefer
But I've got to face this feeling
    With grace
    I will step aside
    But if you're in need
    Holler and I'll be round
    With grace
    I will step aside
    But if you're in need
    Holler and I'll be round
    Holler, holler, holler
    Holler, holler, holler
    With grace
    I will step aside
    But if you're in need
    Holler and I'll be round
    But if you're in need
    Holler and I'll be round
    But if you're in need
    Holler and I'll be round

Had a real bad week. A few really. It was only Grace that got me through. I know this, and also that this knowledge is what I need. Again and again. Refresh...

Thanks for the reminder of what I have to be grateful for. Grace.

glad to hear you recognize grace and think it would naturally leave you a little as you find it out. it's one of those ephemera no one can fully grasp, anyway; perhaps grace gets some of its power from its elusiveness and we're the little people who take what we can of it.
