Artist: Track: In One Ear.

Caught this on Radio 1 last night (on Zane's excellent evening show) and thought it was fantastic.

Cage the Elephant - strange name for a band,  but hey it must be hard to find a reasonable and catchy name these days.

In One Ear - tuneful yet good guitar based music.

Ain't no rest for the wicked - lots of smart lyrics, less guitars,  but still good.

both available on youtube

Good to hear, what is for me at least, new music that sounds different, and is not the "wall of sound" that is so popular at the moment,  in particular on day time Radio 1,  just does not do it for me.

Lastly,  bought Duffy's Rockferry,  and Warwick Avenue is just amazing.  Lovely tune,  great range to her voice, and very catchy too.

I'm a fan.

Caught up my back catalogue of RAGM, and in particular got Battle of LA,  great album, with some cool tracks.

I can't believe the risks he takes with his voice sending it to the limit,  I respect that.

Reminds me of an interview with Lemme of Motorhead, back in the late 80s whn I would listen to the radio till 2 am.  Lemme said that he was inspired by teh 50s rockers who would pitch up to the mike, and sing at full volume,  and so that's how he works too.

Anyway I think either Killing in the name of, or Guerrilla are likely to be one of my Desert Island disks, because i never fail to be energised by them.  Very handy in teh afternoons when I have to fight through the prevailing crowds of tourists slowly thronging alng the Thames river path on london's south bank.  It's a cool place to work,  but it is amazing how 'orrible it is to be forced to an ambling pace when you just want to get by and catch your train home.  C'est la vie.
