SOUNDS OF FUTURE PAST AND PRESENT PERFECT

SXSW

Posted 7 months ago

SXSW was pretty amazing. Driving from TN to TX was super long, but we listened to some good tunes.

We had no wristbands, no badges, no fake IDs, and we were pretty broke. But we did get to see and hear some pretty great stuff!

Two bands I heard for the first time and dug are:

Dent May & His Magnificent Ukulele: I'm a sucker for this type of sound, nostalgia, cheese, I don't know. I like it, but it's not life changing.

and Wildbirds & Peacedrums: I normally wouldn't be into this... but actually really liked it. Boy playing drums + girl singing = awesome.

we also saw some other good stuff including Camera Obscura, the Black Lips with GZA, and King Khan and the Shrines.

At the moment, I'm really diggin' King Khan shows. I've seen him twice, once with BBQ and once with His Shrines, and both shows were phenomenal. I can't exactly remember everything.... but what I do remember is amazing. If you want a party, see King Khan!!!

I can foresee future years being even better and ... I already can't wait for King Khan again in May! Check the audio, Waddlin' Around is a great song.

Were you not slightly annoyed by Dent May? I saw him supporting Animal Collective and wanted to smack the smirk off his face.

Yes!!!  I actually was slightly annoyed due to his cheesyness!  But I eventually got over it because I deep down do like the tunes.
