WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Stop Making Sense

Posted 11 months ago

So today my teacher showed this clip in film class.

During the clip, classmates started laughing at David Byrne's movements. At the same time I was thinking, "damn, that's exactly what I do/how I feel when I'm by listening to/playing music.... in my room, in the car, I get it, it looks so like he's having so much fun, oh man I want to play some music right now."

The clip really made my day. I need to pick up this dvd.

This was when David his groove on - you should have seen him around the time of 'Fear Of Music'! Like above and below his waist were two different people. I saw them 4 times around this time, including 2 of the shows being filmed. But I'd forgotten how intimate this song was played. I'm just gettting up; this is such a great way to start the day.

What was the reason your teacher was showing it?

Oh man, so cool!  I actually had the same thought and went to listen to it again this morning.  The lecture was about documentary/Cinema Verité.  We also watched part of this and this.

I remember Bryne once saying that the way he moves is just the music "hitting" him. His moves are merely a reaction.
I'm still soaking up his latest endevour with him and Brian Eno. Diggin' it so far...
