So long 2008...

Posted about 3 years ago

2008 was just plain weird for me. So many unexpected...surprises? I laughed. I cried. I blew all my money on CDs. I raised my eyebrows a lot. I said "huh?!" even more. I mean, how else would you describe a year where you got to stay out on a farm and see a bunch of bands for around $10 a piece, got several emails with pictures attached saying "I think this is your head" (not to mention youtube videos of you dancing at a concert, forever documenting your shameful lack of talent), got half an inch from both a million dollar Warhol and my favorite BSS-er, and ran away to Seattle for two hours, not to mention almost meeting Jenny Lewis, standing five feet away from the Olsen twins and not noticing, and, on the penultimate day of the year, swearing up and down that the guy at the table behind you at the Vortex is Ben Bridewell, but then realizing his neck is tattoo-free on the right side. 'Twas a year of joy, heartbreak, and geeking out over finding Who's Next and The Dreaming on vinyl. 2008, you've been quite astounding to say the least, but I'm so ready for 2009. Why you ask?

New Franz Ferdinand, Metric, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. It's been way too long guys.

The Decemberists' rock opera of sorts. Should be interesting.

Ben Gibbard and Zooey Deschanel's wedding (cue the sounds of a thousand indie hearts breaking). Last I heard, he wasn't into actresses and she was still with him. (Sorry, couldn't help it.) Raise your hand if you knew they were even dating. No..? Me neither. Jokes aside, can you imagine their guest list? It's gonna be like indie rock summer camp or something. On a side note, now that she's taken, maybe Alexandra Lawn can finally claim her title of Ms. Indie Rock. Seriously, if I was a guy, there would be no question.

Keeping my new year's resolutions, i.e. finish Atlas Shrugged, eat less junk, stop throwing friends under the bus when defending them is just too inconvenient (come on, you do it too...)

Seeing if my '09 Mog secret santa can top this year's, because vacasmagras went above and beyond with his present. A CD of hits when he was eighteen, a Cumbia Digital mixtape, and Sub Pop and CSS stickers? How much better can you get?

(Hopefully) moving to a city with an actual record store and music venue (several even!)

And last, but not least, yet another great year of music, concerts, and mogging!

Happy New Year guys!

Heh. I've found a few videos from Monolith with "who's the dork pogoing?" Frankly, I see lots of upside to that, it means you were there. :)

    Too true!

Glad to see I'm not the only dork mogging on new year's.  Hm, I'm mogging, listening to Death Cab, and eating a vegan espresso chip cookie on New Year's Eve/Day. That says a lot about me I think.

I'd tell you what I'm doing while MOGging, but I want you to have hope for your future, so I'll desist.
