Indie bands come and go with amazing speed. They burn fast and burn bright often before enough people discover them. Many, too many, release great albums that never get the attention they deserve. In the 90’s Madder Rose released four. All are filled with intelligent and often wry songs featuring the vocals of Mary Lorson. Driven by Lorson and guitarist Billy Cote, their music was an intriguing mix of indie alt-pop, trip-hop and dream pop. Their first album “Bring it Down” was both well received and overlooked – if you can find it it’s worth a listen. The final cd, Hello June Fool, was the culmination of their efforts. Great songs, seamless production and Lorson’s perfect vocals. Check out “Feels Like Summer” and “Talking to Myself’.
