Belly was one of the few true girl/alt/rock bands that caught my attention as a tween. Belly's Star that I discovered in the early nineties captured my youth and stayed imprinted there for quite sometime. so I recently recaptured some of the magic, like capturing fireflies in my backyard as a child, by getting Belly's follow up album "King" (1995). And it's quite good, and unique, and I guess not as "commercial" whatever that means as their previous album "Star." By "commercial" I'm referring to the music industries new standards of that particular time - Hope Sandoval once was quoted in an interview on Mazzy Star being dropped from Capital Records, that they [the major labels] started wanting only hits, things started changing with the industry and they didn't allow artists to develop anymore.
Belly's "King" and "Star" albums are definitely something worth looking into, it makes some of the music that's coming out nowadays seem quite boring and lack originality and breadth. Sorry if that seems cliche and it's totally my own humble opinion. It's always good to look to the past, and uncover the roots of all music.
