It's rare that i find a band that doesn't sing in english that i enjoy, one is Sigur Ros, the other is Sweden's Dungen. I got into them back in 2004 when they came out with Ta Det Lugnt, and while i didn't enjoy 2007's Tio Bitar nearly as much, this new song off [...]

Megan Lavelle is a friend of quarterlifeparty and had the chance to check out David Byrne at the lyric last night. She was also awesome enough to capture some video. I just had the privilege of celebrating my birthday (although a day late) with a couple of friends and a live performance from David Byrne. The [...]
Wired has an article on their Listening Post today in memorandum of Richard Wright that syncs 3 videos of a 2001's A Space Oddyssey with PF's Echoe. Nicholas Schaffner's biography Saucerful of Secrets: A Pink Floyd Odyssey did little to beat down the rumors of a direct connection. "Roger Waters, yet to balk at the sci-fi association, [...]
Motel Motel posted a bunch of youtube videos on their myspace page of them recording, playing live, and just plain old dicking around. Coffee Recording New Denver Recording Harlem
Each week (or whenever we have time) we take a listen to some of the top songs from elbows, review them and then give our selection of alternative tracks that we believe should be getting more recognition. The Kooks "Kids" (MGMT Cover) Pretty mediocre cover. It's interesting to hear this song on just an acoustic guitar, [...]
In just checking out the latest news for the ATP New York Festival, I also saw this Nightmare Before Christmas Festival curated by The Melvins & Mike Patton. The lineup has a ton of strange bands that you might expect from the likes of Mike Patton. The festival takes place at Butlins holiday resort in [...]
I went to the GZA show at the Trocadero in Philadelphia last week. It was good, but there’s been so much coverage of his live shows, I wanted to get down to the new album. Nearly every Wu-Tang solo and group release incites the inevitable comparisons to the heyday recordings. For GZA, it’s always [...]
I am definitely jealous of some of my friends heading up to see ATP this weekend (although I will be seeing MBV at Roseland next tuesday). But it looks like I can get a second hand feel for the festival with WFMU streaming some of the shows live on their site. I haven’t trie dout [...]
When we saw Gogol Bordello at this years coachella festival, at the main stage, in 105 degree weather, in the blazing sun…lets just say the conditions were less than ideal. Maybe this will be a bit way better… Sat 12/27/08 New York, NY Webster Hall Mon 12/29/08 New York, NY Webster Hall Tue 12/30/08 New York, NY Webster Hall Wed [...]
UK band Friendly Fires will be joining Lykke Li for her US tour dates, so that instantly got my attention, and if this song is any indication of how their album will be, it should be a great show. I bit poppy, but in a good indie way (whatever that means anymore). Some [...]

You can either email your name here and be entered into the raffle, or "To guarantee free tickets, come out to Fletchers on Tuesday 9/16 any time from 6pm-close. Purchase a drink [...]
Rock Sellout has an interesting tidbit of information on Margot. Basically, since they are conflicting with their record label over the album they will be releasing two albums.. one is a comilati0on of new songs that the record label put together called Not Animal and the band's actual seconds album will be Animal. Margot & The [...]
School of Seven Bells, created by the old secret machines guitarist Ben Curtis, is touring this fall with M83. This sounds like a good match and should be a great tour. School of Seven Bells - Conjur Tour Dates after the jump… 09/27 Boston, MA - Urban Outfitters Newbury 10/17 Pontiac, MI - The Pike [...]
Friend of mine showed this to me the other day, some really great psych-rock with Paz Leftchantin (Perfect Circle, Zwan, Brightblack Morning Light). The video is what you would expect from the song, people chanting and waving their arms and shit like that, the song will melt your face a little.
