Rick Ross – Perfectionist ft. Meek Mills (Maybach Films)

What’s this, a rap video that comes in at under 3 minutes? Oh and there’s no flash and bling, cars or booty hoes running wild in it? They keep it simple and classy, while throwing down their raps? I guess I’ve either been out of the rap video game for too long or Rick Ross just turned in a fresh video for his jam Perfectionist. Other’s should take note; dressing classy and keep it simple can take

Shynola Goes To The Big Screen

SRO favorite Shynola has jumped into the big leagues, getting set to make their feature debut for Warp Films. The film is based on Matthew Di Abaitua‘s sci-fi novel “The Red Men”, which the collective have had the rights to since 2007. A script was even finished and given to the author last August, though it is just now getting announced as a green-lit project at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.A

The Comic-Con Process

In the 13 years I’ve been attending Comic-Con, the event has grown bigger & bigger each year, but with that growth it has became harder & harder to even get myself there and inside. From the panels to the hotels, everything is becoming a headache and this year the final piece of attending Comic-Con has made itself into a problem, the actual tickets. Nothing about going to Comic-Con is easy anymore

DCFC – Home is a Fire (Dir. Shepard Fairey & Nicholas Harmer)

Say what you want about the artist collaboration going on here, but I’ve never been a fan of the ‘seeing the lyrics to the song around town in the video’ concept. I’m not that disappointed though because the song is pretty boring by itself, so you can’t ask much from the video. I also like that Gibbard once wrote a song with the lyrics ‘And I can’t see why you’d want to live here’ in regards to LA

Wavves – Post-Acid (in 3D?)

What did you say? This video looks funny to you? Well of course it does, it’s in 3D. Pitchfork has looked into the future and decided that music videos in 3D are the way to go. Remember when Pitchfork launched it’s Pitchfork.tv website back when the iPhone was coming out? At the time I wondered why they weren’t concentrating on making some sort of iPhone app to showcase their exclusive video relea

The Lonely Island – Jack Sparrow (Feat. Michael Bolton)

Just watch, laugh and enjoy. The push and pull between the two styles is hilarious. Love the switch to Forest Gump and other movies at the end. Bolton was a good sport to be a part of this and pull it off.

I can’t get enough Fleet Foxes. Their new album, ‘Helplessness Blues’ is my favorite release so far in 2011. It’s better than their first and that’s saying a lot. Go pick it up!Fleet Foxes – Grown Ocean from Fleet Foxes on Vimeo.

Thor Has a 92% on Rotten Tomatoes

I jokingly mentioned to my friends last month that I was looking forward to Thor coming out. To be honest it kind of looked good to me, but I also wasn’t going to be surprised if it turned out to be a turd. What gave me a glimmer of hope was the casting of Natalie Portman: she’s been on a good streak with her appearances lately. So now we are at release week and the reviews are starting to roll in

Iron Man 2 (Dir. Jon Favreau)

Now that Iron Man 2 has dropped upon us all, is it safe to say that it was not quite the level of awesome that it was hoped to be? Don’t get us wrong, it was a solid film, but it wasn’t exceptional. In fact, compared side by side next to its predecessor, is one really better than the other? Are they really any different, aside from the villains, both of which employ the same tactic (of stealing...

Digital Comics: The End of Comic-Con?

Not quite. The thing about Comic-Con that you have to understand, is that over the 10 years I have been going, attendance had been trending up, while the existence of actual paper comics has been heading in the other direction. This might be a hard thing for people who don’t attend Comic-Con to understand: they see the words comic convention and immediate jump to the cliched image of nerdy fan ...

M.I.A. – “Born Free” (Romain-Gavras)

Romain-Gavras doesn’t make music videos on the regular. In fact his last was two years ago for Justice’s “Stress”. At the time, it had created quite the commotion and his latest work for M.I.A. has just about topped that.“Born Free” is a very heavy, distorted, punk-ish single off M.I.A.’s upcoming June 29th release. It’s a departure from her normal infusion of world music & effects

LCD Soundsystem – Drunk Girls (Spike Jonze)

The new LCD Soundsystem is turning out to be another banger. I would have chose lead off track ‘Dance Yrself Clean’ for my first video, but ‘Drunk Girls’ is pretty stellar too and maybe the 4 minute track length was easier for Mr. Jonze to deal with. Who really wants to watch an 8 minute music video anyway? That’s a lot of paying attention!

I’m Here [Trailer] (Spike Jonze)

Thought we’d mess with you real quick. What’s up 2010? Yeah, this place is pretty cobwebby these days. No, that’s probably not going to change. If Conan can’t keep a show then we sure as hell have no business with a website. Did you see his last episode? The fact that a man like him, a truly funny and talented man, can’t make it just kills me, but then he starts getting teary eyed and te

Mt. St. Helen’s Vietnam Band – “Albatross, Albatross, Albatross” [dir. Matt Daniels]“
over 2 years ago

After watching the Matt Daniel's directed video for Damien Jurado's "Caskets", I'll watch anything he sends over to me. That video should have been on everyones 'best of' lists last year and it would have been on ours too, if we would have compiled one. Water under the bridge, as the saying goes. So to my delight, Matt's new project is for Mt. St. Helen's Vietnam Band. Quirky name, I know, but the
