“Enter Love Machine” Metallica vs. The Miracles
3 days ago

This is just too much fun to not share. Never have Metal and Motown sounded so fabulous together. The Miracles’ background vocals behind in the chorus are especially funny. Enjoy this Mash-up of Metallica “Enter Sandman” and The Miracles “Love Machine” by Endless Noise. Enter Love Machine (Endless Noise Mash-up) by [...]

New Music Monday: Crosby Loggins…sound familiar?

This week’s subject for New Music Monday comes with a familiar name but a deeper voice and a brand new album. Crosby Loggins, son of singer/songwriter Kenny Loggins (of solo fame and half of folk/rock duo Loggins and Messina) is releasing his first solo album titled “Time to Move” via Jive Records after his win [...]

Latest Susan Boyle Performance Brings Back “Memories”

Susan Boyle was at it again today with her performance of “Memories” from Cats that earned her a spot in the finals for Britain’s Got Talent. Boyle seemed much more serious and controlled this time around (if a bit nervous), perhaps because she now has something to lose, and she sang well overall and received [...]

New Music Monday: Gotye “Learnalilgivinanlovin”

"Learnalilgivinanlovin" is a funky pop tune that's an obvious throwback to '60s Motown which is probably why I love it so much. He's either sampling the Ronettes with the drums at the top or channeling them (and the Phil Spector "Wall of Sound") pretty heavily and purposefully. With a driving guitar riff, blasting horns and stacked vocals this track is huge and so much fun.

For this week’s Throwback Thursday we head back to 1972 for the Bill Withers classic “Use Me” off of his album Still Bill. I’m not sure when I first stumbled upon this song but it has been a favorite of mine for years and I never seem to get sick of it. Outside of [...]

Nyle's live band version of "Let the Beat Build" - complete with vocalists, piano and of course banjo - has all of the raw energy of a stage performance and is totally mesmerizing. Even if you aren't a fan of hip-hop or rap music, you have to appreciate the production, planning and creative vision that went into this video that was all recorded in one continuous video and audio take.

SNL: Motherloving Hilarious

Samberg and Timberlake strike again with SNL's latest digital short "Motherlover" that debuted this past Saturday in honor of Mother's Day. With A-list cameos (I won't spoil them) and an electronic club beat this is definitely the best song to come out of SNL since "Jizz in My Pants" and before that "Dick In A Box."

DJ Richie Hawtin may have just created something revolutionary for the ever-evolving relationship between Twitter and musicians. As minimal techno’s mad scientist of sorts, Hawtin has already [...]

Throwback Thursday - Stevie Wonder “Uptight” Live 1966

One thing I absolutely LOVE about YouTube is all of the old/obscure TV and concert clips you can find. One such gem is this clip from 1966 where Stevie Wonder(at the age of 16!) performs both “Uptight” and “A Place in the Sun” and chats a bit about what it’s like being blind. The recording [...]Related posts:Throwback Thursday: Use Me Three Times *Due to technical difficulties - this pos

Music and love are never very far apart. Fran and Marlo Cowan have been married for 62 years and they’re still rocking and rolling. At 90 years old he’s still got the old routine down and is patting his girl on the butt like a cheeky 20 year old. Be prepared to smile.

Throwback Thursday: First I Look at the Purse

For the first edition of Throwback Thursday I had to go with an old Motown classic - I suppose the “classic” part depends on who you ask but it has always stood out to me.Off of my much worn out CD compilation “Hitsville USA: The Motown Singles Collection 1959-1971,” comes the song “First I Look [...]Related posts:Throwback Thursday - Stevie Wonder “Uptight” Live 1966 One thing I abs

Susan Boyle Dreamed A Dream

This is the kind of story you love to read. Dowdy, 48 years old and never been kissed, Susan Boyle of Scotland shocked the pants off the judges and the audience of Britain's Got Talent when she gave the performance of a lifetime. Susan sang the very beautiful and very difficult "I Dreamed A Dream" from Les Miserables (a musical I grew up singing along with) and received a standing ovation and g...
