Everybody Taste made the "Top 20 Music Review Blogs on the Web" as determined by the concert ticket agency ClickitTicket. They called ET "a very unique site that is built on the principle that music is meant to be shared." As arbitrary as any list is, the recognition and kind words are certainly appreciated. Thanks to all of my readers for continuing to visit and enjoy the site! I'll be here un...

I'm not a fan of reunion tours or nostalgia acts, but when it's the Pixies those preconceived notions can be thrown out the window. Similar to The Boss's scheduled performances of complete albums, the Pixies will play all of their classic 1989 album Doolittle—one of the greatest alternative rock albums of all-time—on their upcoming tour. Whether it's Kim Deal's thumping bass melody on "Here Co

Track:Should I Tell You
Blondie is one of the best genre-defying bands of the 1970s: reggae, rap, funk, disco, and punk—they did it all. Which is why it's odd that the minimalist rock of San Francisco trio Brilliant Colors reminds me so much of the band, especially singer Deborah Harry. Mostly, I think it's the melodic lines of Jess Scott's vocals: simplistic, heavily rhythmic and consistently charming. The band's deb.

Track:Slow Life
Why have so many great bands contributed to the New Moon soundtrack? It's beyond me. And unfortunately, it's hard to ignore. Grizzly Bear's contribution with Beach House's Victoria Legrand is "Slow Life"—from the plucked acoustic guitar to the rousing turns of Legrand and Edward Droste's voices, the song is a booming slow jam with lots of build. Thank Nosferatu over there for the excellent tast.

Ann Arbor, Michigan's Breathe Owl Beathe play traditional folk ballads. Simultanesouly original in color and traditional in style, their beautifully sparse tracks trace the backs of the hillsides: sloping down one moment on the melody of a drowning bass and climbing back up the next with rich, thickly saturated harmonies. Oh, and sometimes they wear capes.Breathe Owl Breathe - "Toboggan" (from ...

The new Vampire Weekend song reminds me of a montage "our love is beginning to blossom" scene in a Bollywood film. I'm not sure that's a good thing, but moving from Africa to India is a ballsy move, no doubt. I know the preppy blonde chick on the album cover agrees.Vampire Weekend - "Horchata" (from Contra)

One of the few good things about flying back and forth across the country in just a few days is all of the music you have time to listen to. And the listening didn't get better than the the Islands' new record, Vapours. From the Auto-tuned "Heartbeats" to the music worshipping funk of "Switched On" and the reggae-infused words of drug-themed wisdom on "No You Don't", Vapours is easily the band'...

British power-pop band the Jags (pictured in this terribly awesome press photo to the left) only played for three years —from 1978 to 1981—but in that time they released a couple great songs, including "Back of My Hand" and this great rendition of Cat Stevens' classic "Here Comes My Baby."The Jags - "Here Comes My Baby" (Cat Stevens cover)

Track:Night By Night
Synth-pop enthusiasts and 80s revivalists Chromeo are back with a new single—"Night by Night." The song—from the duo's forthcoming full-length, due next summer—is a dance-friendly bit of funk with a nice vocals to talk box ratio. Chromeo also has a DJ Kicks compilation set for release later this month, featuring a handpicked batch of disco and funk jams along with the band's own hilarious co
