The River. What needs to be said about The River, except maybe, wow. There are other Springsteen albums I like better, but for some reason, in the last year whenever I go to put some Springsteen on, 9 times out of 10, it’s The River. If you love that record too, you can download the complete performance of it from Madison Square Garden last weekend right HERE. Taper Info:bossman284’s versionMa
Here’s the news from A.V. Club:According to the good folks over at Stones Throw, one of the niftiest independent labels around, DOOM and Madlib are reportedly in Los Angeles working on a follow-up to their 2004 cult classic Madvillainy. Details are scarce but Stones Throw artist J.Rocc previewed some new Madvillain during a recent appearance on Eastvillageradio.com’s “Fat Beats Live”.
You don’t have to wait till the 17th anymore to hear the new Them Crooked Vultures album. Shit, let’s be honest, you didn’t have to wait anymore because it leaked. That aside, the Dave Grohl/Josh Homme/John Paul Jones supergroup has made their entire new album (self-titled) available on Youtube for you to listen to at your discretion. The link is below and the first track from it is right he

A little too country, not quite enough rock 'n' roll, the former Verbena front man still whips up a pretty melody for When the Devil's Loose. Gorgeous moments of guitar plucks and piano pecks make the album worth the listen, and provide Auguste Arthur Bondy a bit of folk clout.Reminds us of: Bonnie Prince Billy | Langhorne Slim | Horse FeathersA.A. It isn’t much of a stand to say that ‘The Wire’ is the best show that television has ever seen, but I’m making it anyway. Variety called this new Lil Wayne documentary, “the Don’t Look Back of rap.” That’s enough for me to Netflix it when it comes out on Nov. 17th and to show you the trailer for it now.
Hopefully you’re not tired of the non-stop hoopla surrounding Grizzly Bear’s Veckatimest. If you are, you can take yourself into the other room or click away because Grizzly Bear fans get to see a new video right now for the song, “Ready, Able.” It’s done up in claymation, so don’t stress if you get California Raisins flashbacks. It’s not that cutesy though. Check it out.
Jakartah incorporate the strident urgency of hardcore with the precise, whirling architectures of early 2000s Dischord bands. Though they lack the dynamics of the instrumentation, the vocals stand out for their clarity. Jakartah’s need to be understood outweighs the emotional posturing of rage that is too frequent in their contemporaries.Reminds us of: Ian’s Fugazi | a mellower Botch | June o
