WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU
The xx go from 4 to 3.

As an update to my earlier post about Baria Qureshi, The xx’s guitarist, possibly dropping out because of exhaustion...well she did. It’s over, it’s trio time from here on out, but the good news is the band and the tour goes on. Feel better? Relieved even? Good, now let’s continue about our business, I think someone’s coming.

Photo Feature! Scion Garagefest - Berbati’s Pan (Portland, OR; Oct. 17, 2009)

Portland may be music heaven most of the time, but often, the culture of constantly rotating indie rock and electro-pop gets a little tiresome and stagnat. The Scion Garagefest was a much-needed breath of fresh air into a music scene begging for something a bit more rowdy.Out of the whole day and all the many bands that played, the last half of the line up at Berbati’s Pan was one of the more s.

    Swim (To Reach The End)

Surfer Blood broke at CMJ. Maybe it was because the NY Times feature story or perhaps it was just the sheer number of times they played (double digits). Doesn’t matter. What does matter that they are here and its time for all of us to get an opinion. Here’s an acoustic rendition of the song “Swim (To Reach The End)” so you can determine for yourself if you think the hype is justified.

Langhorne Slim + Dawes + Austin Lucas - Crystal Ballroom (Portland, OR Nov. 4th, 2009)

Portland was treated well musically Wednesday night: Múm at the Aladdin Theatre and Langhorne Slim, DAWES and Austin Lucas at the Crystal Ballroom. For those at the Crystal, they were treated to strong opening sets by DAWES and Austin Lucas. Although I arrived at the tail end of Austin Lucas’ set, the audience was clearly impressed. DAWES reminded me of a much more patriotic-sounding Wilco; I k

Keb’ Mo’ - “Live and Mo‘“ - Borrow It

Keb’ Mo’s been doing his thing for a long time, and for the most part damn well. Apart from a couple genuine highlights, though, Live and Mo’ is not an essential addition to his catalog. New track “Government Cheese” shows this old school apostle of the blues at his best.Reminds us of: Eric Clapton | Robert Cray | Curtis SalgadoKeb’ Mo’: (Website | MySpace)keb' mo' live and mo' fift

Springsteen plays ‘The Wild, The Innocent & The E Street Shuffle’ live (download)

The Wild, The Innocent & The E Street Shuffle is a love song to characters and the worlds that flow around them. The songs are lyrically dense (in a good way), the music is compositionally sweet and Bruce knew his fans wanted another go-around with it, so he played it in full this weekend. If you click HERE you just might be able to be pretend you were there, in the crowd at Madison Square Gard...

Springsteen plays ‘The River’ live (download)

The River. What needs to be said about The River, except maybe, wow. There are other Springsteen albums I like better, but for some reason, in the last year whenever I go to put some Springsteen on, 9 times out of 10, it’s The River. If you love that record too, you can download the complete performance of it from Madison Square Garden last weekend right HERE. Taper Info:bossman284’s versionMa
