MOG Presents: The MOG Party at SXSW 2010 feat The Black Keys and Demolished Thoughts

Posted almost 2 years ago

Music junkies, rejoice! Austin's annual SXSW music festival is almost upon us, and we're psyched: it's the that one time of year that you can see a bazillion of the newest, freshest, soon-to-be popular bands in one place while tasting the world's best BBQ. And, this year, MOG isn't just joining the party, we're throwing it.

On Saturday, March 20th, from 11:30 am until 6 pm, MOG will pack The Mohawk's indoor and outdoor stages for a day of music from the most amazing bands around. We're especially excited to see Demolished Thoughts - a new supergroup comprised of Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth), J Mascis (Dinosaur Jr.), and Andrew WK - warm up for The Black Keys (THE BLACK @#$&*@$ KEYS). This is just a taste so be sure to check back as we add even more awesome acts to the event. Ok, enough teasing. How about a line-up?

- The Black Keys
- Demolished Thoughts (w/ Thurston Moore, J Mascis, Andrew WK,
Don Fleming, and Awesome Allison)
- The Antlers
- Real Estate
- Rye Rye
- Freelance Whales
- Dum Dum Girls
- Free Energy
- Shilpa Ray & Her Happy Hookers
- Javelin

The best part? IT'S FREE! This show is certain to fill up fast, however, so show up early (show starts at 12pm). And if you're a badge holder, you'll have priority entry, but it's not guaranteed.
MOG will also be covering SXSW 2010 all week, with all SXSW content concentrated into a special Austin Uncovered site. Just head over to http://austin.mog.com to stay up to date on the latest from the festival. We look forward to seeing you there!

That sounds quite good. I'm actually going to fly to the U.S. at that very day - but to San Francisco, which is not exactly around the corner :(.

I have just hung out with Thurston Moore (the last two weeks) here in New York

and will be hanging with J Mascis and his new side-project band Sweet Apple next month.

Have fun at SXSW - but I never feel the need to travel 2,000 miles for an orgy-fest of bands I get to see anyway, in a less chaotic manner ;-)
