Nine Inch Nails: 2009 Our Last Chance to See Them Live?

Trent has posted some rather depressing news on NIN.com:

First, he was given opportunity to film the latest live DVD in 3D but was unable to make it work thanks to a series of snags.

Second, this year's series of concerts will be the last of this scale.

Third, the tour dates announced in 2009 "will likely be the last for the foreseeable future".

It's hard to express how disappointed I am about this news. I got into NIN relatively late in the game so I haven't had much experience seeing him live. Also, when I saw him live this year, despite having sub-par tickets, it was by far the best concert I've ever had the opportunity to attend.

Youch! I've only seen NIN once, and that was abortive, with technical glitches forcing him to cancel his set after two partial songs. I'd love to see him again.

Dale - Did you see him this year? There was a slight technical glitch at the concert I saw this year too, about half way through, but he entertained the audience with a tirade against bush until they worked out the glitches. It was just a small hiccup really.

No, I saw them at the original Lollapalooza in 1991.

This year's tour was a real spectacle. With multi-layered interactive touch screens it brought the live music experience to a whole new level.

'The foreseeable future' usually doesn't last too long once musician's bills come knocking. Seems there's always someone announcing they're throwing in the towel only to turn around a few years later coming back. So don't despair. Trent's been in the business since the early '80s so do you really think he's gonna stop now?

He may not stop creating music but this could be industrials "Ziggy Stardust" hanging up the mantle.

I sincerely hope you get to see NIN next year. In fact I'll mention it in my letter to Santa.  And I dig that remix.

Colin -> wudup my Irish bro

DEMO -> I gotta go with Augusts1 -> He's tasted the music industry for 20 years, this can only be temporary -> Even though I don't like all the stuff he's done, I can appreciate his genius in unique composition, he's definetely made his own distinct sound over the years and it would just be devastating to fans to have him hole up in his mansion and not tour ->

Thanks Flux. Hope you have more pull with Ole Saint Nick than I do, last year all I got from him was socks.
