'Chelle has always (aside from her neam ... errr ... "name") been about keepin' it real.
She wanted to be pictured in blackface on her album *Arkansas Traveller*, which was in large part variations on songs from the mistrel-show days, but the label said no [Even though, in her opinion (as she said in the liner notes), to anyone who knew the history it wouldn't be racist.]
So she posed in rice-powder whiteface...
