Stars Wars Musical Coming to America

Posted 8 months ago
Back in January, we reported that George Lucas has signed off on Star Wars: A Musical Journey, a two-hour performance of John Williams’ Star Wars score performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in sync with chronological movie clips from all six films, starting with The Phantom Menace.

At that time, the musical was set to premiere at London’s 02 Arena on April 10, followed by a brief European tour. Interest in the show is so high, however, the show’s producers are now planning to bring the new version of  “The Imperial March,” their 86-piece orchestra, and choir across the Atlantic. Rolling Stone reports the U.S. dates have not been announced, but tickets will be $35 to $75 for “the biggest, baddest sounding orchestra that anybody’s ever heard,” said Spencer Churchill, one of the show’s producers.

Star Wars: A Musical Journey will also feature a giant LED screen, and an exhibition of vintage Star Wars costumes. “Let’s put it this way,” said producer Gregg Perloff, “We could sell tickets just for the exhibit and people will feel like they’ve got their money’s worth.”

Now we really hope Triumph the Insult Comic Dog films a segment about this for The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien.
