Doc Talk : Fleet Foxes sellout Denver, CO

Fleet Foxes rolled through the Mile-High and the buzz was palpable. A pre-show sell out at the 200 capacity Hi-Dive left many without a way in. After sitting thru a so-so opening set from The Dutchess and the Duke, the Seattle five-piece took to the stage. With only one proper LP and one EP to their credit, the question of would those harmonies work in the live setting was answered right off the bat. This band made a decent sound system sound stellar. Their harmonies worked, their songs were solid and they prove they are worth the hype. Sub Pop has to be lovin' the fact that this band is delivering on their excellent self-titled debut. Everyone but the lead guitarist is fair game for the harmony and toward the end of the show, drummer J.Tillman's vocals nearly matched that of lead vocalist Robin Pecknold. This young lead singer, at times, manned the stage by himself and silence fell over the club. To hear the voice as on the record was worth the price of admission. The band continues to grow after a well-received P4K Festival set and are now opening for Wilco. Nice to finally see a band match the hype.
