Get an early listen to Ben Weaver's sixth studio album, The Ax In The Oak, to be released tomorrow by Bloodshot Records.
Weaver left his native Minneapolis/St. Paul and headed to Chicago to Engine Studios where he teamed up again with Brian Deck (Iron and Wine, Margot & the Nuclear So & Sos, Modest Mouse), the producer with whom he worked with on his 2007 release Paper Sky. Organic and electronic interweave into a thoughtful, honest and enjoyable body of work. Joining Weaver and Deck in the studio were cellist Julia Kent (Antony and The Johnsons), vocalist Erica Froman (Anathallo), and some of Ben’s close friends - namely Will Duncan (drums), Blake Sloan (bass), and Steve Reidell a.k.a. DJ STV SLV (bass, The Hood Internet).
