Unreleased Kinks: 'Four More Respected Gentlemen' (Patient Tested, Doctor Approved)

Oh those discreet charms of the Kinks.

As many of you patients out there in 115th Dreamland know, here at the asylum we love the dusty allure of the unreleased/lost album. Some of our favorites include: The Beatles Get Back (1969), The Beach Boys SMiLE (1967) and, now, The Kinks Four More Respected Gentlemen (1968). That's right patients, our rock 'n roll stethoscopes are talkin' about them elegant and sunshine kink-sized poppy charms of Ray Davies and the Kinks. Hold it right there, don't kink yer eyebrows, we aren't pullin' yer stethoscopes.

'God Save The Kinks'

As Kinkdom history says, the sessions for (The Kinks Are) The Village Green Preservation Society were going to be released in the U.K. and Four More Respected Gentlemen was intended for a U.S. only release. The album made it all the way to the pressing plant (Reprise, RS 6309). But, was later halted by the record label due to unknown reasons. Anyone out there know why?

Today, the doctors and nursemaids here at the asylum have gone through the gut-wrenching madness of findin' and puttin' together Four More Respected Gentlemen. We repieced the album with help from (The Kinks Are) The Village Green Preservation Society, The Kinks Kronikles and The Great Lost Kinks Album. Take a listen and let us know what you think.
