Eli 'Paper Boy' Reed and The True Loves "Ace of Spades" 7-inch

Patients, Bostonian and newly signed Virgin Records shooting star Eli 'Paper Boy' Reed recently released a pair of unlikely ditties on 7". Two tracks that have the doctors and nursemaids here at the asylum toeing the line with 1,000 different dances day and night. Namely, the boom boom. This soulster has chops.

The 7" includes: "Ace of Spades" by British metal heads Motörhead b/w a country tune, penned by the legendary Merle Haggard, "I'm Gonna Break Every Heart I Can". Dig it patients. Our deepest apologies for not letting yer rock 'n roll stethoscopes know about this dose of vintage magic medicine sooner.

Reed exclaims, "The 'Ace of Spades' cover was done just as a 45 only release that we could sell it shows. Sometimes we play it as an encore and it's not supposed to be anything other than fun. I was not trying to make any sort of statement with it and yes it is in the grand tradition of Soul versions of Rock songs (Ralph Jackson's "Sunshine of Your Love", Johnny Jones and the King Kasuals "Purple Haze.")"

Eli 'Paper Boy' Reed and his zippy seven-piece band, The True Loves are definin' the limits of voice and soul with a belly full of sonic salvation and their knack for combustible soul swagger. These guys are the definition of a throw back band. Their neo-retro sounds have shades of Al Green, the spirit of ‘Wicked’ Pickett and a whole lotta of Stax-soul. We like to call it a sex pantry of sounds here at the asylum.
