JOAN AS POLICE WOMAN - TO AMERICA
-
Artist:
After stepping out of Rufus Wainwright's shadow (once a member of his band), this song on her second album sees them reunited once more.
Her soft sensual voice is laid out over a simple, repetitive piano melody. Its simplicity and beauty combined, seductive in its approach, with the power of the track coming oozing out of every word sung. Rufus threatens to steal the show half way through. Equally as engaging and soothing, the tone remains the same, though you feel conflicted within yourself to try and find a preference between the two.
This is soon dispelled with an upsurge of trumpets and drum, uniting of the two voices in a wonderful final crescendo that fades away with the sound of fireworks like a wonderful dream that has strayed through your mind.
A beautiful piece of work, not improved, but merely accompanied by Rufus.
