AC/DC's Brian Johnson to Become Writer, Madonna's Chart Anti-Record, more

Brian Johnson of AC/DC has signed with Penguin Books to publish his thoughts and anecdotes from notes he's kept over the years.


For the first time in her career, a Madonna single has failed to make the top 20 in England. Miles Away peaked at number 39. The only other Madonna song that didn't make the top 20 was the original release of Borderline in 1984, but a re-release two years later went to number two.


Joan Jett has a new greatest hits album coming in May or June which will contain all the usual tracks plus Love is All Around (the Mary Tyler Moore Show theme) and, hopefully, two new tracks.


Brian Wilson has been selected for the first An Evening With program at the newly opened Grammy Museum in Los Angeles. It's scheduled for January 15 and only 200 seats are available.


The Pretenders have an exclusive iTunes Originals set coming on December 23. The tracks will be re-imagined versions of their hits. Also coming are Chrissie Hynde's versions of I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus and Blue Christmas.


In the United States, the DVD of ABBA's Mamma Mia! took in $30 million dollars on sales of 2.25 million units on its first day on sale.


Merle Haggard will perform for the first time since his lung cancer surgery on January 2 and 3 at Buck Owens' Crystal Palace in Bakersfield, California.


The Canadian hard rock group Anvil will be inducted into that countries Indies Hall of Fame on March 14 in Toronto.
