Berry Home is Historic Place, Cohen Set to Make Millions, more

Posted 11 months ago

Chuck Berry 's one-story home in St. Louis where he lived from 1950 to 1958 has been added to the National Register of Historic Places. While the addition does nothing to preserve the house, it does allow for tax breaks to those who want to keep the building as a historical landmark.

Leonard Cohen is set to make almost $2 million dollars in royalties for his song Hallelujah, all due to the British talent show X-Factor. Like American Idol in the states, the show uses a multiple elimination format to choose a winner but, unlike Idol, the winner's "debut" single doesn't have to be some newly written piece of fluff. Alexandra Burke, this year's champion, will release the Cohen song as her debut record and it is expected to be a number one single.

Here we go again. Johnny Marr has stated that there is no basis in the rumors that the Smiths will be reforming. He says he is too busy with his current group. "I'm currently very excited about writing and recording with The Cribs for a new album to be released next summer and we're playing shows in February, so going back in time isn't in my plans."

Ace Frehley has launched his new website (which looks like something from 1995) where he says that his new album should be available "real soon."

The legendary Ramblin' Jack Elliott will release a new album on April 7. A Stranger Here is being produced by Joe Henry (Elvis Costello, Solomon Burke ) and contains pre-World War II blues songs.
