Our weekly recap of veteran artists on the current American music charts. Chart highlights
- Charlie Wilson debuts at number 19 with Just Charlie. The ex-member of the S.O.S. Band has been having a great run of solo records over the last couple of years, including 2009's Uncle Charlie which reached number 2 and 2005's Charlie, Last Name Wilson which peaked at 10. The album also starts at number 6 on the R&B Albums chart.
- The Vince Guraldi Trio's A Charlie Brown Christmas hits its highest point ever on the Album chart, jumping from 101 to 30. To be fair, there have been many years when the album was not eligible for the Top 200 as it was relinquished to the Holiday or Catalog Albums chart, but this is its best since it could be charted with the big boys. The album was first released 45 years ago in 1965.
- The only other new album by a veteran artist this week is The Most Wonderful Time of the Year by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir/Orchestra With Natalie Cole. It has been on the R&B chart for the last couple of weeks where it reaches a new peak this week at 31.
- John Lennon and Yoko Ono hit the Top Digital Songs for the first time as Happy X-Mas (War is Over) debuts at 34.
Previous week position noted in parenthesis. (N) is a new entry. (R) is a re-entry. Grayed charts were not available for update at time of publication.
