Here's a surprise. A story about Aerosmith.
Joe Perry talked to Billboard earlier today and said that Steven Tyler "never said he was leaving the band" but that he want to take two years off to work on other projects. This isn't sitting well with Perry and, presumably, the other band members.
Aerosmith wants to work. The band's been playing together for 40 years. It's a really powerful rock band, and I don't want to see it just go to waste and I don't think any of the other guys do, either. We're gonna work and we're gonna do something -- I'm not exactly sure what yet, but the band's too good to let it sit around. We're not going to wait for Steven."
Perry also talks about Tyler's surprise appearance on Tuesday night at his concert. See the whole story at Billboard.
Cirque du Soleil has had great success with the music of the Beatles (Love) and will soon be staging a show featuring Elvis Presley (Viva Elvis), so who's next? It's being rumored that they are working with the Michael Jackson estate to bring the King of Pop's music to the Las Vegas stage.
The CMA Awards weren't the only show in Nashville this week. BMI also held their Country Awards for the year, naming Bobby Pinson (All I Want to Do, Already Gone) as Songwriter of the Year, Taylor Swift's Love Story as Song of the Year and Sony/ATV Publishing Nashville as the Publisher of the Year.
Gary Rossington, Ronnie VanZant and Warren Zevon again were cited for Kid Rock's All Summer Long as was Billy Burnett for River of Love (George Strait).
Kris Kristofferson received the Icon Award.
The Rolling Stones' Ron Wood was divorced by his wife Jo on Wednesday after 24 years of marriage. The divorce filing cited Wood's adultery.
Mick Fleetwood told TMZ earlier today that he had just gotten over the Swine Flu.
The History Channel has a new Beatles special scheduled for November 25. The Beatles On Record features more than 60 songs along with rare footage and outtakes from recording sessions. It's "narrated" by the four Beatles and George Martin.
