The eighth volume in Hip-O Select's exhaustive retrospective of Brown's singles covers the years 1972 and 1973 when Brown was bucking the trend of the new polished romantic soul. Included are a few rarities from the era, including an unreleased vocal version of Hot Pants Road; the single version of Honky Tonk; the U.K.-only release I Know It’s True; the rare mono promo mix of Ants; the rare single cover version of Watermelon Man by Fred Wesley that features JB on drums; and a second re-cut of Think.
All of the tracks have been remastered from the singles masters, including some single mixes never before available on CD. A book with rare photos, track-by-track information and a sessionography complete the package.
The complete track list with chart data is after the cut.
