Posted about 1 month ago
Paste Magazine has published their list of the 50 Best Albums of the Decade (2000-2009) as voted by dozens of music critics.

Leading the pack was Sufjan Steven's 2005 album Illinois followed by Wilco's Yankee Hotel Foxtrot and Arcade Fire's Funeral. You have to go all the way down to number 28 before you find the first album by an artist who has been recording for 25 years or more, Paul Westerberg's Folker.

To see the whole list, listen to music from each of the albums and see the rationale behind the picks, go to Paste's website.

Here's the top five and all other albums by veteran artists (all three of them):
  • 1. Illinois - Sufjan Stevens
  • 2. Yankee Hotel Foxtrot - Wilco
  • 3. Funeral - Arcade Fire
  • 4. Kid A - Radiohead
  • 5. I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning - Bright Eyes
  • 28. Folker - Paul Westerberg
  • 32. Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots - Flaming Lips
  • 48. Van Lear Rose - Loretta Lynn
