Eric Clapton has canceled out of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25th Anniversary concerts set for Thursday and Friday night at Madison Square Garden in New York. The following was posted on his official website:
Unfortunately Eric Clapton has canceled his performance for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame concert next week to undergo a minor medical procedure for gall stones. He will spend time recuperating at home in the UK and is very sorry to disappoint the fans and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He remains committed to his 2010 concert schedule.
Clapton was set to play on Friday night with U2, Aretha Franklin and Metallica as the other headliners. The Hall of Fame has announced that the Jeff Beck Band and special guests will be taking over Clapton's spot in the lineup.
