The March of the Biopics Continues...This Time With the Ramones

Fox Searchlight has announced that they are going to attempt to move forward with a biopic on the Ramones, based on the upcoming book I Slept With Joey Ramone by Mickey Leigh, Joey's brother, and Legs McNeil. The book, due in December from Simon & Schuster/Fireside, centers around Joey's life and career.

Producer Rory Rosengarten (Everybody Loves Raymond) has been working on getting the rights to both the book and the group's music for several years. The music licensing is still ongoing.

Insiders caution that, while there is interest from Fox Searchlight, no deal has been signed and there is still a long negotiating process ahead.
