Another Decade of Hendrix Material In Vaults, Arthur Ferrante Passes Away, more

Janie Hendrix, sister of Jimi Hendrix and president and CEO of Experience Hendrix, Inc., says their is "another decade" of material to be released from the archives. Hendrix told Gibson Guitars that "We probably have another decade of music, including video. Every 12 to 18 months we'll continue to have new releases and Dagger official bootlegs.
"Jimi was a workaholic. After Electric Lady studios was built he was able to record constantly for as many hours as he wanted to. It's almost as if he knew he had only four years to accomplish everything that he did. We have an amazing amount of original masters, including a lot of material that hasn't been previously released."
Pianist and composer Arthur Ferrante passed away on early Saturday from natural causes at the age of 88. He and Lou Teicher recorded for 40 years as Ferrante and Teicher, releasing 150 albums, receiving 22 gold and platinum awards.
While their style could best be characterized as Easy Listening or "Beautiful Music" they nonetheless reached the Billboard top 10 four times in their career with the Theme From The Apartment (1960/#10 Pop/#24 R&B), Theme From Exodus (1961/#2 Pop/#6 R&B), Tonight (1961/#8 Pop/#2 Adult Contemporary) and Midnight Cowboy (1970/#10 Pop/#2 Adult Contemporary). 31 of their albums made the Top 200 between 1962 and 1972.
Brain May told the BBC that a movie version of the Queen stage musical We Will Rock You is in the works. Interest increased after last year's success of Mamma Mia!
The New York Examiner ran a short piece today saying that it appears that NBC Universal will be releasing a live Paul McCartney at Citi Field box with three-discs (CD & DVD).
Following up on our story about BLEVE Records and their charity single by Ronnie Milsap and Trace Adkins, they have announced that they will not be pulling the record even though Capitol Records (Adkins label) sent them a cease and desist order.
Mickey Milam, the president and CEO of BLEVE, says that the appearance of Adkins was approved by Trace's management and Capitol had full knowledge of the project. After last weeks announcement, BLEVE has been swamped with offers from both music industry people and firefighters, police officers and their families (who benefit from the single) to get involved.
U2 picked up two nominations for the MTV Europe Video Awards. They are competing in the Best Rock and MTV Live Act categories.
Tony Bennett helped cut the ribbon and open the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts in Astoria, Queens on Monday morning. The public arts high school was founded by Bennett in cooperation with the New York City Department of Education. Bennett spoke at the opening as did Nancy Sinatra and others.
Tonight, Bennett will host the third annual Exploring the Arts gala where he will perform along with k.d. lang.
