Are We Not Old? Warner Brothers Signs Devo to Groundbreaking Partnership

Posted 2 months ago
Devo is back on their original label, Warner Brothers, signing what is being called a worldwide groundbreaking partnership. Warner will handle all parts of the band's career including recordings, touring, merchandising, web presence, promotion, licensing and endorsements.

The band's Gerald Casale said in a press release "We are excited to embark on Devo’s latest sonic subversion with the label that first unleashed us on the unsuspecting public."

Mark Mothersbaugh added "De-evolution is real! We wouldn’t be doing it if it weren’t in our genes!"

On a more serious note, Warner's Elsye Rogers said, "Devo have been called everything from geniuses to deviants and have always been ahead of their time. They are brilliant multi-media innovators who express themselves through far more than just recorded music. Their videos, live shows, merchandise, and visual attack are as big a part of their art as the music is. We could not be more excited to continue to break new artistic ground with them while working to redefine the evolving music-industry paradigm."

To kick things off, Warner is releasing deluxe edition CDs and colored vinyl versions of 1978's Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo! and 1980's Freedom of Choice along with a seven-inch vinyl single of Jocko Homo/Mongoloid. All of them will hit the streets on November 3.

Devo will appear in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Chicago, Washington, New York and Toronto for two nights each, performing Are We Not Men? in its entirety the first night and Freedom of Choice the second. Fans who buy tickets for the shows on line will receive access to downloads of three early versions of the songs Whip It, Red Shark (later It's Not Right) and Turn Around.
