The Spinal Tap and Folksman guys are releasing a DVD of their current concert tour on September 1. There will be no additional content on the release.

Eddie Van Halen will be making a guest appearance, playing himself, on an upcoming episode of sitcom Two & a Half Men.

Martha Reeves lost her bid on Tuesday for re-election to the Detroit city council. She says she will go back to concentrating on her singing.

Another album is being moved up to make the Grammy cut-off for this year. John Fogerty's The Blue Ridge Rangers Ride Again will now be out August 31 with the vinyl version available August 25.

Sam Cooke's legacy will be honored in his birthplace of Clarksdale, Mississippi this coming weekend at the Sunflower River Blues and Gospel Festival. Activities will include the dedication of his Mississippi Heritage Blues Trail marker, a panel with many of his family members and soul and gospel concerts. Headlining the Saturday show is Bettye LaVette.

Warren "Birdland" Suttles the last surviving member of the Ravens, passed away on July 24 at the age of 84. Suttles and Jimmy Ricks formed the group in the late 40's and went on to have nine top 10 R&B hits between 1948 and 1952, including their classic take on Ol' Man River. The group is credited with starting the trend of the bird groups (Orioles, Crows, Wrens, etc.).

Suttles left the group for a final time in 1954 and eventually became a lounge manager.

Also passing away is Twyla Herbert, the writer and self-proclaimed psychic who wrote The Gypsy Cried, Lightnin' Strikes, Rhapsody in the Rain and Two Face Have I with Lou Christie. She was 87.
