Skaggs Mining the Great Songs His Father Taught Him
-
Artist:
There seems to be a trend by a few country and Americana singers at the moment. Tanya Tucker did it on My Turn and Rosanne Cash will be doing it soon on The List. It's all about going back and covering some of the great songs of country music. Now, Ricky Skaggs joins the group with Ricky Skaggs Solo (Songs My Dad Loved), out September 15 on Skaggs Family Records. Like Cash's album, Skagg's is using the music that his father taught him as a young boy as the basis for the song selection.
It's also Skaggs' first truly solo album as he sings all the parts and plays all the instruments, including guitar, fiddle, clawhammer banjo and mandolin.
Over his long career, Skaggs has won 14 Grammy Awards, had 12 number one country singles and 12 top 20 country albums along with 8 CMA Awards including one for Entertainer of the Year.
