ABBA Salute Slated for London with Andersson & Ulvaeus

No, you won't see ABBA filling in for some of Michael Jackson's O2 Arena dates. That rumor was flying around the internet (along with the fact that Led Zeppelin would do the rest).

What you will see, though, is a special concert of their songs called Thank You For The Music... A Celebration Of The Music Of ABBA at London's Hyde Park on September 13. While neither Anni-Frid Lyngstad or Agnetha Faltskog are expected to attend, both Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus will participate along with a number of other guest vocalists.

BBC Radio 2 is sponsoring the show that will salute the group and its two main songwriters. Andersson and Ulvaeus said in a statement "This must be the greatest honour that can be bestowed on any songwriter. We are absolutely delighted and we hope thousands of Radio 2 listeners will join us there."

According to the Radio 2 website, "The concert will include exclusive live performances from an array of stars of some of Benny and Bjorn’s most famous songs from their days as of one of the world’s greatest pop bands, to music from their recent offerings in musical theatre and folk."
