Michael Jackson Update: Funeral Service Tickets, TV Coverage, more

Posted 4 months ago
Over 1.6 million people attempted to get tickets for Tuesday's Michael Jackson Memorial service over the last two days; however, they will need to wait until Monday to find out if they are a lucky winner.

Originally, the ticket announcements were going to be made today (Sunday), but AEG wants to review the entries to remove any duplicates or ones that may have come from automated systems.

On Monday, e-mails will go out to the winners who will then need to go to a specified location to pick up the tickets and wrist bands. They will need to have both to get into the Staples center, with the aim of controlling the area for only true service goers and to stop any scalping of the tickets.

Expect wall-to-wall coverage of the service on Tuesday from many of the major networks. So far, networks like NBC, ABC, CNN, HLN, CNN International, MSNBC, TV Guide Network and E! have said they will be showing the service live at 10 AM Pacific. CBS has not announced final plans.

Brian May says that he is infuriated that two rough tracks recorded by Freddie Mercury and Jackson during the 80's have leaked onto the internet. State of Shock and There Must Be More to Life Than This were recorded at Jackson's studio.

The producers of The Simpsons have gotten the rights clearance to reair the 1991 episode in which Michael Jackson voices the part of an overweight mental patient who thinks he is the singer. It will air tonight (Sunday) at 8 PM Eastern.

Billboard recently reported that Jackson was working on two albums at the time of his death, one of pop music and an instrumental classical composition.

Madonna paid tribute to Jackson at her London O2 concert with an imitator who performed some of the singer's most famous dance moves to Holiday/Want to Be Startin' Somethin'.
