Styx made an appearance on Monday at the end of the daily White House briefing for reporters. The group took questions and posed for pictures but, as odd as this may all sound, the strangest moments were when members of the press corps were heard singing pieces of Come Sail Away and Mr. Roboto.
Tommy Aldridge, drummer for Thin Lizzy, is recovering from a broken collarbone, forcing the group to cancel their opening gig for AC/DC in London, Dublin and Glasgow.
Paul McCartney may not be calling it a tour, but a few more U.S. shows and we think that's what he'll actually have. McCartney has now announced an August 15 show at Atlanta's Piedmont Park to benefit the Piedmont Conservancy.
The Guitar Hero: Van Halen video game is schedule for November/December. An exact release date and song list should be out in the next month or so.
Two members of Ralph Stanley's Clinch Mountain Boys were injured Monday morning when a drunk drive hit the back of their car. Stanley's grandson, Nathan, who plays mandolin with the group suffered two broken legs while fiddler Dewey Brown received facial injuries.
Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers have recorded the song Johnny Cash Is Dead (And His House Burned Down) set to the tune of Cash's Big River. The Rockabilly tinged song was just released to radio.
The group, who have been semi-retired for the last 17 years, are also recording a new album called The Pilgrimage which will be released in the fall.
You would think autographs by the late Hank Williams and Jimmie Rodgers would fetch the most money amongst all the great stars of country music, but it's Patsy Cline who holds the title. According to an article at Musicouch, a recent auction yielded $3,612.15 for an autographed copy of her 1957 Walkin' After Midnight LP. Hank is second on the list followed by Jim Reeves, Rodgers, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash and Cowboy Copas.
