Parton's Coat of Many Colors is Now a Girl Scout Patch, Cohen Makes Polaris Long List, more

Posted 4 months ago
Dolly Parton has turned the spirit of her 1971 hit Coat of Many Colors into a new Girl Scout badge. The requirements for the badge help scouts to realize that, although people may be different whether by look, spirit or economic situation, they should still be respected.

Parton invited the first 450 scouts who completed the badge requirements to Dollywood over the weekend to receive their new patch directly from the singer. One of the young scouts summarized the purpose of the patch by saying "Now, I think twice before saying something to someone who looks different; I don’t want to hurt their feelings. Plus, you can be rich without having a lot of money, as long as you have people who love you."

James Brown once approached Eddie Murphy about playing him in a biopic of his life, based on Murphy's imitations on Saturday Night Live. Murphy has always passed on the idea, but feels the man to do it would be Wesley Snipes. "...James Brown isn’t just singing and splits, you’ve got to chase the car and the crack heads. You’ve got to do the stunts. I’m too old to do the splits. They should make that movie with Wesley Snipes tomorrow.” Of course, that would be after Snipes gets out of jail, if he ever goes in. He could always write it off as research for the role.
