Olivia Harrison Says George Would Have Reunited the Beatles, Cheap Trick Doing Sgt. Pepper, more

Posted 5 months ago
Olivia Harrison, widow of George Harrison, spoke with Britain's Sun on the eve of the release of George's career compilation, Let It Roll. When asked if Harrison would have participated in a Beatles reunion, she said "I think so, yes, I do, because he had great love for the others. He really did. As you get older, you value and treasure your friends so much more.

"I don't even want to think about what it would have been like. Very often there are times I think, "Oh, I wish George were here for that." He became more and more loving towards everything. He came to appreciate his friends so much more."
It is now official that Cheap Trick will be performing the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band at the Las Vegas Hilton on September 13-15, 17-19 and 21-23. Rumors of the show have been spreading since January.

The show will also include some special guests and a full symphony orchestra. Tickets are relatively cheap for the Strip, starting at $65.

The Eagles will be one of the first artists to have their own artist personal experience (a.p.e.) radio station. The new scheme is a creation of Clear Channel Radio and Front Line Management (Irving Azoff).

The idea of these stations, which will be part of Clear Channel's on-line content, is similar to the Sirius/XM artist branded channels. The station will be programmed by the artist with their favorite acts along with carrying interviews and exclusive content.

Other artists launching channels are Christina Aguilera and Weezer.

Depeche Mode have announced that they "are not able to reschedule eight of the cancelled shows due to scheduling conflicts. Despite efforts to find a window in which to reschedule these dates, it has proven unfeasible to do so."

Canceled shows are in Athens, Istanbul, Bucharest, Sofia, Belgrade, Warsaw, Riga and Vilnius.

Los Lobos have signed a new contract with Shout! Factory and are aiming to release their next album in early 2010. They were dropped by their last company, Hollywood Records, after the release of The Town and the City in 2006.

Story of a Heart, the first single by the Benny Andersson Band and written by former ABBA bandmates Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, has been put into heavy rotation on BBC's Radio 2. Also added (though in a lesser rotation) were a-ha's Foot of the Mountain and Paul Carrack's Just 4 Tonite.

Jazz guitarist Huey Long passed away Wednesday in Houston, Texas at the age of 105.

Beginning his professional career in the early-30's, Long played with Fletcher Henderson and Earl "Fatha" Hines before doing a short stint in the Ink Spots. Over the length of his career, he also worked with Fats Navarro, Eddie Lockjaw Davis, Snub Mosley and the Ravens.
