Starr May Join McCartney & Dylan in Studio, Springsteen Adds Giant Stadium Dates, more

The new rumor of the day comes from England's Daily Express and adds Ringo Starr to the recording sessions with Paul McCartney and Bob Dylan. Their infamous "source" said "The word is Ringo is likely to play drums on a couple of tracks once Paul and Bob have put some songs together. Ringo will be the perfect middleman between Bob and Sir Paul as he knows them both well."

Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band have added two more shows to their run at the soon-to-be-demolished Giants Stadium. October 8 & 9 have been added to the September 3 and October 2 and 3 shows which sold out quickly.

Morrissey will release a CD of B-sides off of singles from his last three albums with Swords. The 18-track compilation will be out in October.

Collector's Music will be reissuing five albums by folk/pop singer Kate Wolf on July 7. Wolf, who died in 1986 of Leukemia, was never a mainstream artist, but her unique fix of folk, country and pop helped pave the way for artists like Mary Chapin Carpenter.

The albums being issued are Back Roads (1976), Lines on the Paper (1977), Safe at Anchor (1979), Give Yourself to Love (1983) and The Wind Blows Wild.

Elektra records is back. The label that signed everyone from Judy Collins to the Doors has been made a freestanding label by the Atlantic Records and Warner Music Groups. The first signings include Cee-Lo (Gnarls Barkley), Justice and Little Boots.

Co-president John Janick said “Elektra Records will mark its 60th Anniversary in 2010 and it feels like the perfect time to recapture and reignite the spirit which made the label a beacon of great music and eclectic artistry. Elektra has always been first and foremost about its artists, supporting their vision and giving them the freedom to do their best work. This is a sacred trust that Mike and I take very seriously, and that we will strive to uphold in the years ahead. We’d like to especially thank Jac Holzman for his wonderful support as we begin to build on the legacy of the amazing label he started six decades ago.”
