Buddy Guy Takes Three Blues Music Awards

Buddy Guy was king of the 30th Blues Music Awards on Wednesday night, taking home statues for Album of the Year, Contemporary Blues Album and Contemporary Blues Male Artist. Janiva Magness took home the coveted B.B. King Entertainer of the Year Award along with Contemporary Blues Female Artist.

In the area of Soul Blues, Irma Thomas took Album for Simply Grand but was beat out for Soul Blues Female Artist by Etta James. Soul Blues Male Artist went to Bobby Rush.

For Traditional Blues, B.B. King won the album award for One Kind Favor along with the Traditional Blues Male Artist. Koko Taylor took the Traditional Blues Female award.

The Historical Album went to Albert Collins Live At Montreux 1992.

Finally, the veteran artists taking home instrumentalist awards were Marcia Ball (Pinetop Perkins Piano Player of the Year), Willie "Big Eyes" Smith (Drums) and Sonny Landreth (Guitar)
