Hagar Sites Satriani As Best Guitarist, McEntire Goes Hip On New Album, more

Posted 6 months ago
Sammy Hagar pull no punches in saying that Joe Satriani, the veteran guitarist and bandmate in Chickfoot, is the best guitarist with which he's ever worked.

"I've made this statement a million times, some people don't like it, some people do, but Joe is the best guitarist I have ever played with. That's a strong statement. I realize that. You've got to give Eddie [Van Halen] a lot of love for his innovation of what he did as a stylist with the guitar. He broke a lot of ground. But Joe is a master. He can play anything and everything - folk, blues, jazz, hard rock, soft rock, fusion, you name it."
Reba McEntire's untitled new album is set for August 18. She told USA Today that her tour last year with Kelly Clarkson gave her a new perspective on picking songs. "I think that my song selections are a little more hip. I know they're more uptempo. They're funky, they're sassy, they've got attitude."

Mark Mothersbaugh of Devo has been working quite a bit on scoring films, along with doing quite a bit to get fired from scoring films. He didn't work well with Wes Anderson and now he's been fired by Drew Barrymore from her independent film Whip It!

Mothersbaugh told Yahoo, "She hired me and fired me in all of like two weeks. I got snippy with her. She canceled out on showing up at the studio three times and I kicked Devo out every single time and had an engineer come in and set up the studio and the third time I got pissy with her on the phone. And she said she just doesn't think our styles work together. So I got fired."

Up next on his scoring plate are the films New York, I Love You, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs and Johnny Appleseed.
