Elton John Bringing The Red Piano to DVD and Blu-Ray

After five years and 200 performances, Elton John closed his The Red Piano show at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas and opened up the door to sharing the performance with all his fans.

The Red Piano is being released on both DVD and Blu-Ray next Tuesday (May 5) via Universal and contains the full 14-song performance. Also featured is the other "star" of the show, the photography of David LaChapelle which is projected throughout the performance to "develop art and imagery that would complement the music and enhance the experience for the audience."

In addition to the show, there is also a 50-minute documentary, The Life and Legacy of Elton John, with behind-the-scenes of David LaChapelle's 'Red Piano' treatment of Elton's live stage show and the raw videos made by LaChapelle that were used for the stage backdrop.

Elton explained the show by saying, "It's what I'm like from an artistic point of view. It's fun, it's deep, it's the songs I really love and it gives me a chance to get across what I am all about, visually as well as musically."
