Lucinda Williams is giving back to her fans. While she doesn't control the ticket prices for her shows, she is giving everyone who attends a discount at the merchandise table of $7 on clothing and $5 on CDs.
"I understand that this may only be a small gesture and in no way solves the problem long term, but I feel that it is important to try and do something to make it a little easier during this time."
Peter Gabriel met with Mexican President Felipe Calderón last week and urged him to stop the violence against women and murders in the Ciudad Juárez and Chihuahua provinces. Over 470 women, generally in their teens or early-20's, since 1993.
The childhood home of Jimi Hendrix in Renton, Washington is being demolished. The city council ordered the owner to demolish the property after an attempt to raise funds to do repairs fell through.
Hal Durham, who was manager of the Grand Ole Opry for 15-years and an announcer for WSM and the Opry, passed away this past weekend at the age of 77. Durham is credited with bringing the Opry into the modern era of country music by doing away with many of the more antiquated rules (such as not allowing drum sets) and inducting more modern artists like Alison Krauss, Ricky Skaggs and Reba McEntire.
The BBC's Andy Parfitt says that Top of the Pops will most likely never return to the TV as a weekly series. Even with huge ratings for Christmas and Comic Relief specials, "I don’t think we should get hung up on that one programme. We are a long way from (BBC1 controller) Jay Hunt recommissioning Top Of The Pops in its old-school form on BBC1."
Finally, don't forget that tomorrow night on Fox, right after American Idol, is the premier of the Osbournes: Reloaded. On second thought, maybe you should forget. In recent interviews, three of four family members (not including Sharon) have expressed their general disliking for it.
