- The Grammys have given a huge boost to their album of the year, Robert Plant and Alison Krauss' Raising Sand. The album, in it's 62nd week on the charts, moved from 69 to 2, equaling the spot in which it debuted. It also went 10 to 2 on the Country, 23 to 1 on the Rock, 124 to 39 on the British and 79 to 8 on the Canadian album charts.
- Also getting a boost was George Strait's country album of the year winner, Troubadour, which jumped 113 to 57 on the Pop, and 20 to 10 on the Country album charts.
- The Motown catalog continues to dominate the R&B Catalog chart with 7 out of the top 10.
- Pete Burns of Dead or Alive has his first number one record in the U.S., not as a musician but as a songwriter. Flo Rida's Right Round is based on Dead or Alive's You Spin Like a Record (Right Round) which went to number 11 in 1985.
- Mac McAnally has the first number one record of his career supporting Kenny Chesney on Down the Road. McAnally first hit the charts in 1977 with It's a Crazy World which peaked at number 37.
- The first single from Morrissey's new album, I'm Throwing My Arms Around Paris, debuts at number 21 on the U.K. Singles chart.
