King Sporty: Mr. Rhythm (Konduko, stereo)
Rare disco-funk out of Florida by Jamaica's rocksteady-turned-funkateer King Sporty. This was his first release on his own label, Konduko, distributed by TK Records. Awesome selection of tracks for disco/funk fans, including two of my favorites, "Good Loving" and the soulful "Home Grown."
NM/NM I found this sealed and it's only been played a couple of times. Pristine cover and vinyl.
$75
Pat Lundy: Loving You / The Funkiest Feeling (Pyramid, stereo)
Disco-soul-breaks classic from Pat Lundy, featuring "Work Song." This is a much easier way to cop a song that goes for over $70 on 12".
VG /NM- Light ringwear. Vinyl is excellent.
$25
The Underground All-Stars: Extremely Heavy (Dot, stereo)
A strange, and, well, heavy-sounding psych rock album (with some early metal influences) featuring some of the strangest covers I've heard of Stax songs including version of "Crosscut Saw" and unbelievably, "Grab This Thing," the Mar-Keys' hit. Did I mention "Louie, Louie"? Best of all, the version of "Norwegian Wood" on here is mesmerizing; even more druggy than the late era Beatles might have come up with.
VG /VG Ringwear. Vinyl has very light marks but plays pristine.
$20
Byron Lee and the Dragonaires: Red Hot, Cool & Easy (Dynamic, stereo)
One of the best from Byron Lee's prolific catalog of reggae soul LPs. This one features covers of "Shaft," "Have You Seen Her," "For Your Precious Love," and best of all, "Hot Reggay," a cover of James Brown's "Hot Pants." Hot stuff!
VG/VG Ringwear, taped top edge. Vinyl has light marks but plays excellent.
$20
Shelly Manne: Mannekind (Mainstream, stereo).
One of the most infamous sample records, this has "Infinity," the source of Jeru's "Come Clean" and arguably DJ Premier's greatest flip ever. The entire album is actually a solid Mainstream title - '70s jazz with some funky arrangements but the main reason this album has any notoriety is due to "Infinity."
VG /VG Cover has very light marks on the front. Vinyl plays NM on Side A and more VG on Side B, with light static at times. Priced to move.
$10
Natural Gas: S/T (Firebird)
Very quirky, jazz-meets-psych-meets-soul album from Canada. It's hard to describe the album as a whole since it has so many different dimensions but my favorite cut is "The All Powerful Man," a really funky/soul cut feat. Carl Watral's distinctive vocals. Worth checking. (Note: this is not the same self-titled album by the band on Private Stock).
VG /VG Light ringwear. Vinyl has light marks but plays pristine.
$10
