An ancient album in todays music scene, Blue Horse is a great release from The Be Good Tanyas. I can't decide how well known they are... but they do the folk genre something good and make my ears quite happy and probably got their big break when they got put on The L Word soundtrack. I've been wiki-informed that they started playing together at tree planting camps (quite fitting actually) and eventually became a "real" band aka playing not just at tree planting camps. And now they're right here on your computer-step.

i first heard blue horse some years ago now an' have since got two more of their albums, also as a result i got to know jolie holland, a foundin' member but since become well known in her own right, also other offshoots are po'girl an' sofia, all well worth checkin' out, better to go to myspace
