Gomez won the Mercury Award, did you know that?The year was 1999 and their debut album Bring It On was quite literally going Platinum (as did their sophomore attempt Liquid Skin). It was all very promising stuff. Unfortunately, as time passed, people forgot about Gomez and their last few albums have been released to relatively quiet fame.
